2016 Dodge Viper ACR was purchased for the owner of Grand Prix Cafe to use as a track day car however, he was so impressed with it he decided to develop it for racing. The viper is a well setup car straight out of the box, however there is always room for improvement. When the car started to be used for competition use the first step was a Roll cage built to SCCA rules with that a heat sensitive automatic fire suppression system, window net, and SFI approved  harnesses were added, next on the list came the seats, the drivers seat was swapped for a light weight aluminum seat for maximum head room with tall drivers, the seat also offers much stronger bolsters to keep the driver stationary in the turns. The passenger seat was removed to have a central mounting location for the cool suit box. Now for the performance modifications the tires we ended up using were the Michelin circuit race slicks on factory wheels these offered the grip levels we were after without the issues of delaminating that we had on other slicks and track day tires, the factory bilstein coilovers are a great package and offered good adjustments to dial the car in for track conditions, as well as driving style. The factory carbon ceramic brakes offered great stopping ability but with a hefty replacement cost after limited track time, the rotors were swapped for girodisc multi piece steel race rotors and the pads were swapped for raybestos race pads, the package utilized factory hubs and calipers providing fantastic braking on the track. As far as the power train is concerned SRT had it handled well, the exhaust was swapped for the belanger 3 piece headers,  connected to a 3” catless exhaust with straight thru race mufflers, the factory cats built up too much heat in the enclosed area the exhaust runs through, as  the car was no longer being used as a street vehicle they were removed and the O2 sensors relocated to rear of exhaust to eliminate the check engine light. The shifter has a height extender added in to bring the shifter location closer to the steering wheel for driver comfort. This car completed a total of four races in 2018 at Monticello. The car was retired after it was found that the Rear diff ring gear bolts had Sheared off, this was a common problem on the model and a new upgraded diff was supplied by the factory, this has been fitted to the car and has zero miles on it, also supplied is a differential and transmission cooling system not yet fitted to the car. This comes with the car and can be fitted for an additional cost. A MoMo quick release steering wheel has also been newly fitted. All the original parts are available and also come with the car should the new owner wish to return it back to factory condition and set up.
